FlashADCs

All in all, there are 8 sectors with 60 anode strips each. The preamplified signals from these 480 channels need to be analysed to extract the time as well as the charge. Rather than using 480 ADCs and 480 TDCs it is more convenient to digitise each pulse with a high sampling rate. This is done using so called FlashADCs, placed on a card in a VME crate. A on-board floating point processor allows to extract the needed information directly from the pulse shape with a suitable algorithm (FPGA). Typical sampling rates are 40-60 MHz.
