A planar test chamber has been set up to check the shapes
of the pulses using different gas mixtures and pressures, and to test the electronics. The first picture below shows the set-up with a 5.5 MeV alpha
source irradiating a drift volume of ca. 20x20x2 cm3. A photograph
of the different layers of the chamber can be seen in the bottom picture. From top left
to right bottom: The cathode (the strips are connected to each other), the
GEM, the top cover plate, the anode strips, the drift frame and the bottom
cover plate.
